HI!
I have been doing a lot of research on apps that the kids can download to help them with their fitness logs. Most of them are free, but a few cost a couple dollars. If this is something that interest them, it might motivate them to get out more! 1. Couch to 5k I have this posted on my home page. This helps students with their running endurance. 2. Calm This app helps with Meditation. I will count meditation for time in the fitness log. I believe using meditation can help you with balance in your life, which helps with the physical part of your life. 3. NTC (Nike Training Club) I love this app! I will use it in class and in my personal life. There are so many exercises to pick from. There are even 15 min. workouts that are perfect for the fitness log. 4. My Fitness Pal This is also a favorite app of mine. There is actually different apps for My Fitness Pal. There is one that can help you count calories and one that maps you run, bike ride, or hike. This is a great way for the students to challenge themselves. Recipes are also available to help with nutrition. 5. 30 Day Fit Challenge Workout This app is all about increasing endurance. The will slowly allow you to improve your core, upper body strength, lower body strength, and cardio. This is a great app for students who are not used to physical activity. I encourage you to take a look at these and see if you feel they might be a good fit for you student. Thank you! Ky

This week we have started our Tinikling Unit. This is a Filipino Dance with Bamboo Sticks. We will be using PVC Pipe. The students are required come up with a 32 count routine in a group. This will be done during class. The routine will be 25 points of the students grade.
This is a fun way to exercise and get in some great cardio time. Here are some links that can help guide your student. They should just have fun with this and be creative while working well with their group! I can't wait to see what the students come up with! Thanks! Ky Hello!!
I want to remind everyone that Fitness Logs are due every week. I will accept them no later than Tuesdays. Parents, please make sure that you review the log with your child and sign the paper. These points will not be able to be made up. There are worth 3 points a week. Thanks so much! |
